The best pour-over coffee is the one that matches the style of cup you want. Brazil, Ethiopia and Bolivia can all work with V60 or other filter methods, but they produce very different experiences.
Brazil: balanced and approachable
Ouro Brasileño from Alta Mogiana combines chocolate, caramel, roasted nuts and soft fruit. As a pour over, expect a rounded and familiar profile rather than an intensely floral cup.
Ethiopia: fruit and florals
Land of Legends is the more expressive option. Its natural process brings raspberry, tropical fruit, plum and floral notes with bright acidity and a juicy body. It is a strong choice for V60 and Chemex drinkers who want more aromatics and fruit.
Bolivia Geisha: the rare experience
Patrimonio is the most limited of the three. This auction-selected Geisha from Los Yungas, La Paz was produced by Elías Quispe III in Caranavi, and the complete auction lot totalled just 34.38 kg.
Its jasmine, cherry, peach, grape, mango, cinnamon and lemongrass profile is especially suited to precision filter brewing. V60, Chemex and Origami allow the coffee’s aromatic structure and silky body to remain visible.
Which should you choose?
- Balanced and easy-drinking: Ouro Brasileño.
- Bright and fruit-forward: Land of Legends.
- Rare and highly aromatic: Patrimonio Bolivia Geisha.
